LaGuardia Airport Construction Inspection Services

Project Info

Project Description

DY Consultants provided Construction Engineering Services for the Central Terminal Area and Hangar 7C. DY Consultants inspectors and administrators assisted in the monitoring and quality control of both landside and airside projects. These projects are either individual construction projects or work orders completed by a previously selected contractor. The disciplines involved on these projects have included civil, structural, electrical and mechanical.

Some of the services provided by the DY staff include construction inspection, project scheduling, cost accounting, contract administration and project management. Often these projects have aggressive schedules due to the nature of the project and the needs of the airport tenants. Our staff is dedicated to assisting the Resident Engineer’s office in expediting these projects while minimizing interruption to the operations of the Airport. DY’s engineers have an important role in verifying quantities installed in the field for payment purposes. These engineers have a strong understanding of the project budgets and the current amount expended.

These projects on the airport required continuous, extensive coordination between the project stakeholders. There are weekly meetings with PANYNJ staff, the Architect or Engineering Design Staff, and the Contractor. In addition, informational meetings are held to coordinate with all interested parties. At LaGuardia Airport, this may require updating Port Authority staff, tenants (such as airlines, concessionaires and other businesses on the site), and the FAA Air Traffic Controllers.

The more recent projects that DY was involved with include the Cooling Tower, the Renovation of the Marine Air Terminal and the Electrical Improvements associated with the West Field Vault. DY Consultants also played an important role on other projects, such as:

  • Rehabilitation of Alleyways, PA Gates and Taxiways
  • Rehabilitation of Taxiway “B”
  • Priority Building Construction
  • Rehabilitation of Taxiways “A,” “AA” and Runway 4
  • Rehabilitation of Concourses A, B, C, & D Slabs with Cellular Concrete
  • Rehabilitation of Taxiways “BB,” “CC” and “DD”
  • West Field Lighting Vault
  • Marine Air Terminal Exterior Rehabilitation
